Easy Layer Assignment
As described in the section Define Layer Standards, the layer name is broken down into components. In this example, the widely used “AIA” standard is used. The components are selected from lists. In this case, the list of values for “Minor Group” are defined as “context lists”. This means, that the list of values is dependent on the value of a previous component “Major Group”. It also shows that some components may be missing for certain categories.
This is the dialog displayed to assign the layer name for a certain category or sub-category.
The “?” signs in the layer name indicates that the layer standard used has “automatic” components which will be generated automatically from information available in Revit. Such components are not displayed because the user does not need to specify them.
