Modify Blocks / Create Blocks with Attributes
The functionality of the “Block-Substitution / Attributes” feature has the following options:
- Modify the block-name
The naming of blocks created during the Export is often quite complicated. With this option you can define your own “rule” how to name a block according to the name of the Family or Type or give it a predefined name.
- Replace blocks by pre-defined AutoCAD blocks
In some cases, it is important to use the exact block from a template. With this option, you can replace the graphical representation created during the export with the block defined in the template drawing.
- Add additional entities created from the family instance to the block definition.
In some cases, Revit creates additional elementary geometric entities (lines, arcs etc.) in addition to the block from a family instance element, this is often undesirable. With this option, the block definition is modified by adding these additional entities to the block definition.
- Create attributes from tags defined within the family
The functionality is similar to the functinality described in Blocks with Attributes for Annotations. The attribute tags can be mapped with parameter names or named automatically acoordning to the name of the parameter.
- Create additional attributes from parameters as invisible attributes
Visible attributes would affect the graphical appearance of the drawing, therefore it has been decided to create invisible attributes instead. The information, however, is available independent of visibility. With this option it is possible, to add all the parametric information contained in the Revit model in the DWG file created by the export.
